“ Are your taste buds crying out for an excellent made Banh Mi? How about a large roll with the perfect exterior crispness and soft fresh inside generously filled with quality tasting Vietnamese meats and the freshest veggies with a kick of jalapeno. This place uses the freshest most delish rolls I have had in Houston. They outsource them locally on a daily basis but they must put them in the oven or something to kick up the wow factor of the crispiness. My roll had some secret spicy mayo like spread on it and 2 meats. The only thing I noticed which was different is that they use dark meat pork. At first I thought it was beef because it looked like beef and had a different taste than the usual white cuts of pork that I'm use too. I would of preferred the white meat cut but nonetheless it was still one outrageously delish Banh Mi. I added some fish sauce and wow my taste buds were so aroused with such incredible flavors (tip- go light on the fish sauce). I would of never guessed a $3.50 Banh Mi could kick ass over a $35 steak. . Plus I received friendly and prompt service by a young man They do close at 6pm and I believe by 4pm on Saturdays so come early. NN2 please keep on serving those awesome sammies. My taste buds are in love with you! ”
“ For those who live around this area...you should definitely check this place out and try the sandwiches! I had lunch nearby and since I drove so far to have lunch, I thought I would pick up some stuff for dinner. A buddy of mine suggested Nguyen Ngo and I trusted his input (along with the Yelp reviews). I bought three sammies: tomato based sardine dac biet - vietnamese cold cut ribeye and onion EVERYTHING WAS GOOD. I requested that the sammies come with the mayo, veggies and pate!! My hub and I enjoyed it very much..there was the perfect amount of pate, mayo and veggies..yum. The service was great when I placed my take-out order. It's a young group of people working the restaurant so they are way more personable compared to the elder viet workers at other viet places. If you live/work near here, this place is definitely worth a try. ”
“ This is not your typical banh mi place, it's very clean & trendy! Service is always fast & friendly. I had the croissant french sandwich and the croissant vietnamese sandwich.... mmmmm....soooooo good. My bf loves the beef steak banh mi. He said, "It's so good, it just melts in your mouth." ”
“ This is our favorite banh mi place! My personal favorite is the Xui Mai Banh Mi (Meatball) on croissant. Second favorite is the Banh Mi Thit Nuong (BBQ pork). Something about their meatball really sets them apart from other banh mi places and their croissants and French bread are unlike any other place. Their service is also phenomenal. Menu items are also customizable to your preferences, just let them They also sell Golden Pig Cracklins here and these are the bomb.com! ”
“ The service here is chill. It's always the same guy that takes my order and he's pretty cool. I usually order the french combo croissant. I really like that the croissant is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The sandwich is just heavenly. The veggies are fresh and I absolutely love the chicken. I also always get a bag of the sugared bread. I love that its a combo of salty and sweet.. Overall experience: I would like to give this place 4.5 stars. I actually prefer the location in bellaire and think the banh mi there is more flavorful, but Nguyen Ngo is definitely the best when it comes to banh mi in Houston. ”
“ I am a big fan of banh mi and this place is rocking a great sandwich! I have been in some pretty scary places that were set up Subway style with the ingredients and toppings in front of you that look kind of questionable. This place was clean and I can't say enough how appreciative I was for the friendly, patient service! The first time I visit a place I tend to get that deer in the headlight look, especially when presented with so many choices and someone in line behind you. It didn't matter. The menu was thoroughly explained to me and some popular combination choices were pointed out on the wall. I went with seared pork belly, a fried egg, and all the veggies including jalapeños. It was fantastic! The balance of flavors was perfect, I didn't feel the need to drown it with sriracha. The bread was toasty and the veggies were fresh. My favorite part was taking a bite and having the egg yolk drip into the pork belly. I think next time my boys might get extra meat since they are teens and never seem to get full. For me, it was perfect the way it was served. Banh mi is not all about meat. It's the way everything comes together for a perfect bite. ”
“ I don't know what I did to upset my boss, but I was put on assignment out here in Siberia one morning. With a Target store as the only indication of civilization in sight, I was at a loss at what to do for sustenance. Thankfully, I didn't have to eat my leather shoes as my trusty Yelp app found that Nguyen Ngo 2 was one of the only places around here open at 9 a.m. The storefront photo makes this place look like a cell phone store turned sandwich shop, but it had five stars, so why the heck not? Don't judge a book by the dilapidated strip center it's in. The moment I stepped inside, I was taken aback by how tidy the place was. Clean counter, laminate flooring, painted walls and globular ceiling lights. Their menu looked pretty standard: BBQ pork, chicken, rib eye, meatball. WAIT, WHAT? RIB EYE? I had to try it for its novelty if not for my love of red meat. The damage was $5.50 and I threw in an extra buck to have a fried egg with my steak for breakfast. As with any sandwich, the bread can make or break it. NN2's baguette was fluffy on the inside, but mine could have been toasted a little longer as the crust was still soft. I'll overlook that since it's an easy fix. The steak itself was okay, but when its jus intermingled with the mayo-butter spread...THAT is when the magic happened. For lack of a better description, it turned into crack in gravy form. I probably won't be back anytime soon solely because this place is far from my neck of the woods (one could say it's in my ankle of the woods?). Alas, 'tis better to have loved and lost than never to have eaten a crack gravy rib eye Vietnamese sandwich at all. ”
“ I just had a very good chicken banh mi for lunch here. The chicken, veggies and bread were fresh, and with extra jalapenos and hot sauce, very tasty. The service was quite friendly and the place clean. Again, this is a very good banh mi, but not the best I've had or my favorite. The things that just weren't quite 5-star for me are probably personal preferences, but the bun was a little too soft, I didn't like that the chicken was shredded, and there wasn't enough flavor. This is definitely a good spot for a quick, inexpensive lunch in the area, so give it a try. ”
“ After finding myself back here again and again, I am finally persuaded to go ahead and bump up Nguyen Ngo to the five star rating I rarely give unless near perfection is achieved. I am able to look past the flimsy utensils and styrofoam cups for water and the so-so pate chaud. Thing is, their banh mi is consistently delicious, and the service is consistently good enough to outshine the little faults. Since my last review, I have tried several other varieties of their banh mi. Though their cold cuts are really tasty, and their ribeye is a rare treat, my favorite combination right now is half pork with half meatball with a fried egg added. The meatball here has won as my favorite meat option. There is nothing ball like about it. I suppose it could be considered a meatball if you mashed up a very fatty meatball until it looked like loose, fatty ground pork. It's so succulent and flavorful that you want to devour it with delightful ferocity. Another new favorite of mine is adding the fried egg for a dollar, which really adds another level to the already fabulous banh mi. However, I do not recommend ordering it if you are with coworkers or anyone you are trying to impress. It is an unavoidable dripping hot mess as the very gooey easy cooked yolk tends to drip out of every crack and crevice of perfect bread like an untameable beast. I suppose you can ask for the egg to be cooked more, but really, the gooey yolk is the best part of a fried egg and should not be meddled with. Instead, ask for a fork and pierce the yolk ahead of time, spreading it out evenly to minimize the damage. I learned this after my first mishap with while trying to close my sandwich. The burst yolk oozed immediately over the sides of the bread, leaving me with a sad face and resorting to dipping my bread into the fallen puddles of golden goodness. Just be prepared to visit the unisex bathroom afterwards for a good hand cleansing. It's a messy treat but totally worth it. Nguyen Ngo has become my gold standard of what greatness can come from a simple banh mi shop, and I am doubtful I will find one that surpasses it any time soon. Big thanks to them for satisfying my banh mi cravings, and giving me a delicious lunch I think about even before breakfast some times. ”
“ This is probably one of the best Banh Mi restaurants in North Houston.Their BBQ pork sandwiches are excellent and even better with a fried egg added in. I usually order a second sandwich but with meatball instead. I heard that the croissant sandwiches are awesome but can be a bit pricey for what you get. You pay extra for the croissant bread and my coworker said they didn't put enough meat in his. I only had the banh mi here so I can't complain. Stick to the original and you won't be let down. TIP: -Bring at least $10 in cash for yourself if you plan on ordering two sandwiches. I think they have a minimum for credit cards. ”
